Bishop James Ruggieri has announced several new priest assignments

 

Effective June 1, 

Father Kyle Doustou, former pastor of the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord in Old Town, was appointed vicar general of the Diocese of Portland. Msgr. Marc Caron, who had served as vicar general and moderator of the curia, is becoming the director of the Center for Continuing Formation at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Father Brad Morin, who had served as parochial vicar in Old Town, will now serve as pastor, while continuing to serve as director of the Office of Vocations and Office of Campus Ministry. Father Morin will be assisted by newly ordained Father Erin Donlon, who will serve as assistant director of vocations and parochial vicar.

Also newly ordained, Father Hoa Tien Nguyen will serve as parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish in Wells, while Father Thanh Duc Pham will begin canon law studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Effective July 1, 

Father Simon Assogba, SMA, has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Saint Agatha and Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Parish in Madawaska. Father Assogba will also serve as director of the Christian Life Center in Frenchville, replacing Father Antony Alexander Maria Doss, HGN, whose service in the diocese is completed. Father Assogba most recently served as a parochial vicar of the Parish of the Precious Blood in Caribou.

Father Anthony Korir, SMA, has been named pastor of St. Peter Chanel Parish in Van Buren. He will also continue to serve as pastor in solidum of the Parish of the Precious Blood, along with Father Sahaya Remgius, SAC, and Father Thomas Andrews John Xavier, SAC. Father Xavier previously served as parochial vicar of the Parish of the Precious Blood, while Father Remgius served as pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Oquossoc.

Father Kent Ouellette, who served as pastor of the parishes in Madawaska, St. Agatha, and Van Buren, will serve as a senior priest at St. John Vianney Parish in Fort Kent.

Father Luc Tougouma, SMA, a member of the Society of African Missions who recently arrived in the diocese, has been appointed parochial vicar of the parishes of Our Lady of the Valley and Notre Dame du Mont Carmel.

Father Antonidass Amirthanathan, HGN, formerly parochial vicar of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel, Our Lady of the Valley, and St. Peter Chanel, has been appointed parochial vicar of St. Michael Parish in Augusta.

Father Brittoraj Amalogam, HGN, who had been serving as a parochial vicar at St. Michael Parish, has been appointed administrator of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Oquossoc.

Father Edward Clifford, former pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Bridgton and St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Norway, will now serve as pastor of Holy Spirit Parish in Wells. Father Clifford replaces Father Hyacinth Fornkwa, who is being reassigned by the Diocese of Kumbo.

Father Thomas Aquinas Giragori Chinnappan, HGN, who recently arrived in Maine after serving in India and in the Diocese of Burlington, Vermont, will succeed Father Clifford as pastor in Bridgton and Norway.

Father Paul Marquis, who served as part-time parochial vicar of the Parish of the Holy Eucharist in Falmouth and as a hospital chaplain in Portland, has now been appointed a part-time parochial vicar of the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes, while continuing his hospital ministry.

Father Peter Kaseta, OFM Cap., previously a parochial vicar of the Parish of the Holy Eucharist, will now serve as a senior priest at the parish.

Father Joseph Jum, who has been completing clinical pastoral education (CPE), has been appointed parochial vicar of the Parish of the Holy Eucharist.

Father Arockiasamy Santhiyagu, HGN, who had been a chaplain at Lewiston’s hospitals, has completed his service in the diocese. Father Gabriel Odin, OP, newly arrived in the diocese, has been appointed chaplain at Central Maine Medical Center, while Father Peter Onwe, OP, also new to the diocese, will serve as chaplain at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.

Father Nsame Venantius, formerly parochial vicar of Stella Maris Parish in Bucksport, Parish of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bar Harbor, and St. Joseph Parish in Ellsworth, will now serve as administrator of Stella Maris.

Father Benjamin Simon, HGN, who recently arrived in the diocese, will serve as parochial vicar at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish in Camden during the summer.

Effective August 1, 

Father Claude Gendreau, who serves as a notary in the diocesan tribunal, will retire from active ministry.
